BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ed Kohler is a Principal and Chief Financial Officer of The Pegasus Group, a New York City-based real estate firm that specializes in the development of large, urban, multifamily projects. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ed has been coaching and teaching clinics since 2015. As a Board member, Ed is proud to support our dedicated staff and volunteers, as they develop the next generation of baseball players.

Jon Margolis is a Managing Director specializing in business development at Nomura Securities, the largest investment bank in Japan. A graduate of Emory University. Jon has been coaching various youth sports since 2019, mostly in 78 baseball and softball. He has been a 78 board member since January 2024.

Vishal Kapoor is a Partner at Avego BioScience Capital, a Venture Capital firm focused on the biotechnology industry. Vishal graduated from Columbia University with an MBA and undergraduate degree in biology. In addition, Vishal has been supporting and coaching 78th Youth Sports teams for 10 years - he has 3 children, ages 8, 12 and 14.

Adam Steinberg is a Managing Director and Head of Capital Structure Advisory at Stifel where he advises clients on M&A, financing, and restructuring transactions across a wide range of industries. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Adam lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two sons. He has coached 78 youth baseball since 2019 and joined the Board in 2024. 

Bryan is the Chief Revenue Officer at Newsela, the leading K-12 supplemental content platform. He graduated from the University of Virginia and later earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business at NYU. Bryan has has been supporting and coaching 78th Youth Sports teams for over 10 years - he has 3 boys, ages 9, 14 and 16.

Marie is the Chief Operating Officer at Let’s Talk Menopause, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources, education and advocacy in support of midlife women’s health and wellness. She is a graduate of Rutgers University, holds a Nonprofit Leadership Certificate from Columbia Business School, and has been a 78YS Board member since 2022. Marie has been supporting her three sons in 78's baseball, basketball and flag football leagues for almost 20 years, including enthusiastically co-coaching her youngest son’s baseball team, Team Milo, since 2020. 

Rebecca is a social worker at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, where she supports students and families. A Brooklyn native and graduate of Hunter College School of Social Work and DePauw University, Rebecca is also a proud mom and active team parent for three sports kids who play softball, baseball, flag football, basketball, and soccer.

Jim Crews serves as Director of Marketing and Technology for his family's John Deere construction dealership. Additionally, he brings over 10 years of financial services experience from TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab. A graduate from the University of Oklahoma and former adjunct professor, he combines business leadership with academic expertise. Jim and his family are active in the community, participating in softball, basketball, baseball, and bowling.

A graduate of Harvard University, Adam brings to us over 15 years of professional baseball experience. Prior to joining 78 Youth Sports in 2018, Adam spent time as a Coordinator of Amateur Scouting, Senior Director of Baseball Operations and Assistant General Manager with both the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets organizations. In addition to his time in the front office, Adam appeared frequently as a SportsNet New York (“SNY”) panelist on Baseball Night in New York, the Mets Pre-and Post- Game Shows, and Mets Hot Stove.

Julia Friedman is the Assistant Director of Early Childhood and Kindergarten admissions at Brooklyn Friends School, an independent Quaker school in Downtown Brooklyn. Julia graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in sociology. As a Park Slope native, Julia’s family grew up supporting community and cheering on her brother and his friends in 78 Youth Sports activities, programs, experiences for children and families.

A native of Chicagoland, Jeff graduated from the University of Virginia and has worked in the sports industry for over 20 years, including the last 12 at The Topps Company. His wide-ranging experience spans marketing, product development, innovation and ecommerce. Jeff began coaching at 78 Youth Sports when his son started tee ball 8 years ago and has since coached his daughter in baseball for the last 5 years. When not coaching, Jeff has watched his kids participate in our pickleball, baseball and basketball clinics over the years.

Tim Katt is National Director and Managing Partner of the Sports and Entertainment practice at Transwestern, where he advises professional sports teams, ownership groups, and investors on transformative, large-scale real estate initiatives nationwide. He is a proud father of three children who have grown up playing baseball and flag football with 78 Youth Sports. Tim has also coached multiple seasons of flag football where he gained a firsthand appreciation of the impact 78 has on our youth.

A proud father of three, die-hard Knicks fan, and avid basketball player, Ari Korner has coached girls' basketball since 2022. Through coaching he has discovered a passion for making youth sports accessible to every kid, regardless of background or ability. He knows firsthand, from years of mentoring young athletes, the vital role sports play in building character, resilience, and lifelong friendships for kids. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Ari works as a Designer and Art Director, collaborating with major brands in the media and entertainment space. 

Marc Lieberman is the President of Above Average, an Emmy-winning comedy production company founded by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video in 2012, where he develops and produces comedy features, stand-up specials, half-hour comedies, and scripted audio series. He holds a finance degree from UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce, grew up in Fairfax, VA, and currently lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two sons.

Jeni Matson is a documentary television producer/editor whose work has appeared on ABC, Food Network, Netflix, HBO Max and Hulu. She brings to 78 Youth Sports a wealth of non-profit experience. She has run the Cobble Hill CSA since 2019 and led her kids' middle school fundraiser since 2022. As the parent of two boys with nearly 35 combined seasons of 78 Youth Sports, Jeni brings a firsthand understanding of what makes community leagues thrive — from the sidelines to the front office. She is excited to bring this blend of creative, operational, and community-building experience to the 78 Board.

Joel Nadelman has spent the past several years coaching his son’s 78 Youth Sports baseball and flag football teams and watching firsthand the impact it has on kids and families. He loves helping young players build confidence, become better teammates, and develop a lasting love of the games they play. Outside the field, Joel has spent his career in financial services, currently serving as the Global Head of Account Management at Parameta Solutions, the data distribution arm of TP ICAP, an inter-dealer broker trading OTC derivatives. He’s excited to give back to a league that has meant so much to his family and looks forward to helping ensure it continues to be a great experience for the people in our community.

Dave O’Connor is an award-winning filmmaker and media executive. He began his career at ESPN and later served as president of TIME Studios prior to starting his own film, television and digital media business. A graduate of the University of Delaware with an MBA from NYU Stern, Dave has worked with most of the major national and global sports leagues and helped some of our most iconic athletes tell their stories. Dave is also a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach and USA Football Certified Youth Coach, and has coached baseball, basketball and flag football in 78 Youth Sports rec leagues since 2018. He has three children ages 15, 12 and 3.

James O’Neill has coached flag football, basketball, and baseball for more than a decade, with each of his three sons participating in our programming over the years. Professionally, James has spent his career in financial services, holding business leadership roles focused on strategy, data, analytics, and organizational change with much of his work centered on helping teams solve problems, make better decisions, and work effectively across different parts of an organization. A longtime Brooklyn resident, James and his wife have raised their family in the community, and he values the opportunity to give back and support an organization that has been a big part of his family, giving them the chance to play, coach, volunteer, build friendships, and stay connected through youth sports.

Jeff Powell is an attorney with extensive investigative and litigation experience. Most recently, he served as Co-Chief of the Civil Frauds Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he oversaw healthcare, grant, procurement and financial fraud prosecutions.  Prior to that, Jeff was a Section Chief at the NYS Attorney General's Office, a litigation associate at a large NYC law firm and an associate at a national nonprofit advocacy organization that sought to improve failing child welfare systems. Jeff received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. On the field, Jeff enjoyed many years of coaching his son's baseball and flag football teams. Now pitching for Vassar, his son Zach was a standout with the Bulldogs for several years.

Anthony Rallo is the co-founder of Awayzing Stays and President of AntNYC, Inc., overseeing operations, marketing, and development of vacation rental and real estate properties. He leads an e-commerce venture specializing in bolt and screw extraction and is a seed investor and strategic advisor for startups. A former leader in advertising tech sales, Anthony is on the boards of Poconos VRO, City Harvest's Generation Harvest and Host2Host. Passionate about baseball and pickleball, he’s dedicated to creating environments where young athletes thrive and develop life skills.

Michael Subracko is the Senior Director of Philanthropy at Year Up United, a workforce development organization that helps young adults launch meaningful careers through skills-first training. A graduate of Truman State University, where he played baseball and studied Accounting, Michael later earned a Master of Divinity and served as a pastor in Seattle and Brooklyn. Michael has been involved at 78 Youth Sports for over 10 years as a parent and coach for his three sons.
